How often do you look at your loan balance?

Current Balance: $28,729.43

How often do you look at your loan balance? Every day? week? only when a payment is due? If you can’t tell, I look at mine almost every single day, which is why I post it at the beginning of every blog post. Some people may call that obsessive, but I call it motivation. For some reason, seeing it slowly tick up each day makes me want to pay it off even sooner. And nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching it go down after making a payment.

For me, it’s a lot like starting to work out and eat healthy. At first, it’s difficult and you don’t want to keep going, but as soon as you see results you’re motivated to keep going until you reach your goal. As I get closer to the day where I can say I no longer have student loan debt, I find myself looking at my balance at least once, if not twice day.

What motivates you? Is it looking at your loan balance? Not looking at your loan balance? Highlighting that Excel row when you make a payment. I’ve even seen payoff charts that say “Student Loans” or “Credit Card Debt” that you can slowly color in as you meet certain milestones. If you don’t know what motivates you to pay off your student loans, find it and stick with it. Who knows, it may encourage you to pay it off faster.

I’m gonna go check my balance again….
